Huntington Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Orange County. The sunset at this beach is always an unforgettable experience. The color of the sky and the golden reflection of the sunset in the vast open waters are always mesmerizing.
Whenever I feel like taking a sunset picture, I usually end up going to a beach. I mostly go to Huntington Beach, especially by the pier. I usually look out for puffy or stormy clouds in the forecast as the clouds add some drama to the picture. This happens a lot more during sunset and in the blue hours.
Tide patterns and time of the year also change the look of the beaches and add character to the scene. At times, the beach gets shallow by the shoreline and that creates some nice reflection of the pier and the light hitting the sky. At other times, it could be quite deep that results in some interesting wave patterns. This is why I enjoy visiting the beach at different times of the year.
I always make sure to stay past sunset to capture some blue hour shots as well.
I usually try to take some long exposures and/or bracketed shots to capture some drama. So far, Huntington Beach has not failed me and I have been able to capture some amazing sunsets.
Below you will find some pictures that I have captured over the years at Huntington Beach.
