This was the very first time that I was trying to combine taking a Milky Way shoot with a meteor shower. I didn’t even know what to expect or whether this would work out.
I did hope that it would be interesting. Or a new experience that we could all learn from. It was exciting that we were going to get a glimpse of the Perseids meteor shower.
The haze from the recent Holy Jim fires was certainly an obstacle. So we tried driving deep down Geology Tour Drive in Joshua Tree to avoid the haze as much as possible.
Going deep down this road also helped us get into a quieter space with fewer people and less light pollution from the 29 Palms.
Well, this was the best we could do to try to get some clear, dark skies. It was not easy trying to spot the meteor shower right at the moment to capture it.
But we did get some nice shots overall. With a little touch of the meteor shower and the Milky Way – amidst some haze and a non-clear sky.
