When our trip to Trona Pinnacles was finalized, I started doing some research to find interesting places near Trona Pinnacles. If we were to go all the way out there, I would want to see other interesting spots along the way.
There was this one spot, that kept popping up, called Fish Rock. It’s just an interesting rock formation that looks like a school of fish jetting out of the water.
My curiosity on this spot increased when I learned the history behind the graffiti on this rock. The fish face-like painting that was found on the rock dates back to the 1930s. Now, this was something I had to see in person for myself. This interesting formation is also referred as the Whale Rocks, Fish Head Rocks, and Fish Tooth Rocks. What an interesting find!
You can spot this interesting formation in the east end of Poison Canyon. This is an easy stop to make on the north side of highway 178 on Trona Road. Just pull off on the dirt road that loops behind a small ridge, and you are at the Fish Rock.
So we decided to take a quick stop at this Fish Rock location and take a few pictures before heading towards Trona Pinnacles. This was an interesting stopover and I am glad to have discovered this spot while researching the Trona Pinnacles region.
